This means that when you are using eMobile broadband while and out and about, your device will automatically detect WiFi hotspots that are available. It will then automatically move you on to a WiFi network so that you are accessing free data on the move.
By having automatic free access to eircom WiFi hotspots, you can preserve your paid for data allowance for when you are not in a WiFi location, meaning your allowance goes much further!
eMobile broadband coverage in Ireland
When in Ireland, eMobile broadband works best in areas covered by the 3G network. Outside of 3G coverage, you find Edge and 2G networks. You can still use your broadband device in these EDGE and 2G areas to browse the internet and use your email. If you want to use your broadband device to download videos, music or songs, then it's best to be on a 3G network. However, if you are out and about and if you're at an eircom WiFi hotspot location, you'll also have access to quality broadband speeds that are on par with fixed line broadband.
eMobile broadband coverage when travelling abroad
You can roam with eMobile Broadband in over 140 destinations worldwide. Simply call us before you go to ensure that roaming is set up on your account.
You can use eMobile broadband while abroad at a cost of 1c per KB or 10.24 per MB. Please remember, roaming usage is not included in the allowance you use within Ireland.
We want to help you control how much you spend on data when accessing the internet while abroad. That's why we will automatically notify you advising you of what you have spent on data roaming while you are using your mobile broadband abroad. We'll also give you the option to apply a limit to your data usage so you cannot exceed a spend of €60.
Great value prepay roaming rates on T-Mobile
We can offer discounted roaming rates for customers who roam on our partner network, T-Mobile, in key destinations across the world.
If you select the T-Mobile network you will automatically avail of the T-Mobile 1 day data discounted rate which gives you an allowance of 50 MB of data for €15.
This is charged as follows:
€5 for the first MB,
€5 for the second MB,
€5 for the third MB.
After the third MB is charged, the rest is free up to 50 MB.
If you exceed 50 MB, standard roaming rates of €10.24 per MB will apply.
This T-Mobile Roaming data allowance expires at midnight but it can be used across other destinations provided it's within the same day. We'll alert you via text while abroad, when you have spent €48 in data charges, to ensure that you are aware of what you are spending.
